Reheating: Important please ensure your food is piping hot throughout before serving.
Dal should be the consistency of thick soup but can settle and thicken when chilled, if this happens put 1/2 cup of water into the pan before you empty the dal, continue to heat gently as below, it's fine to add more water if you need to, you may need to add more salt if you do.
In a pan
Empty contents of the dal pot into a saucepan, heat on a medium heat stirring regularly until your dal is piping hot throughout. Check seasoning and add salt to taste, allow the dal to rest for 2 minutes before serving.
In a microwave
We have based these guideline timings on a 800W microwave, please note microwaves vary in power so adjust times to ensure your food is piping hot. Open 1 corner of the lid, heat in microwave on full power for about 3 minutes, remove the lid and stir your dal, replace the lid and microwave for a further minute or more until your dal is piping hot throughout. Check seasoning and add salt to taste, allow the dal to rest for 2 minutes.
